In 1984, landscape architect and QIT lecturer Catherin Bull headed a student group investigating the future uses and form of the whole of Gardens Point. The former Domain being contested as potential future QIT development land. This is the Preferred Strategy for redevelopment that went to the general public for comment in 1985. This study prompted the Brisbane City Council to undertake a redesign of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, appointing Modernist architect Robin Gibson as the chair of the redesign committee.
