1863 - Battery of guns

In 1863, a Battery of 12 cannons was set up along the Queens Park riverbank. The 1862 working drawing for the Battery emplacement platforms, is perhaps the oldest drawing from Qld Works Department Plan Room and bears John Petrie’s signature (#124-2-1 now kept in Qld State Archives). The photograph was taken in 1906 and also shows the Government Surveyor’s measuring line which has used to verify equipment (Source: SLQ/JOL 48249)
