In 1865 the Alice Street boundary was demarcated with an ornamental cast iron fence atop a stone wall. As this area was still known as Queen’s Park, the rondels on the gates opposite Albert Street bear this name and the first Governor Bowen and VR for Victoria Regina, for whom Queens Park was named.
